Dear Atherton Elementary Families,
Welcome to Atherton Elementary, where we help our youngest Wolverines learn and grow! Serving over 255 students in grades K–6, our dedicated AES staff is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for every child. We are proud to offer small class sizes and a learning experience that focuses on the whole child—academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.
At AES, students receive daily instruction in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, designed to keep them engaged and excited about learning. In addition, students participate in weekly Art, Physical Education, STEM, and Music classes, along with regular visits to our school library. Our newly renovated library features cozy reading spaces and a wide variety of books to inspire a love of reading, while our STEM classroom promotes collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving through hands-on learning experiences.
We are proud to offer after-school and summer programming through the 21st Century Community Learning Center. These programs provide fun, enriching opportunities that extend learning beyond the school day, including activities in arts and culture, fitness and nutrition, academics, STEM, and leadership. Summer field trips, both within and outside of Genesee County, provide meaningful, real-world learning experiences. We also offer an after-school Art Club for students who enjoy exploring their creativity.
Partnering with our AES families and community is a top priority. We welcome parents and caregivers to volunteer in classrooms, attend field trips, join celebrations, participate in evening events, and become active members of our Parent-Teacher Organization.
As I begin my role as principal of Atherton Elementary, I am truly honored and excited to serve this incredible community. Many of you may already know me from my work within Atherton, and I am grateful for the relationships we have built. My husband, Dave, and I live in Grand Blanc with our four children and grandchild. Throughout my career in education, I have had the privilege of serving as a classroom teacher in grades 1, 3, and 5, an ELA coach, and previously as a principal of a K–8 building. I am proud to continue serving Atherton Elementary as the Principal and look forward to growing together.
I am deeply committed to our students, staff, and families. At AES, we truly believe it is the best to be a Wolverine, and I am proud to lead a school rooted in community, connection, and student success.

Proud to be a Wolverine,
Mrs. Lynsey Gennaro
